Cards

The cards were fairly simple to start, I had most of the icons and colours as well as typography that I wanted to use, it was just a point of getting all those ideas together.

I started out with a basic idea by using the icons on the board to make them easy to identify when playing the game. I mixed in the colour pallete and every card will have different colours.

I tried to create some borders, starting with fairly fancy type ones with a lot of curves that match that style that the rest of the game matches.

I also tried some plain borders on the cards but preferred the curve like styles that were done previously, I felt these designs did not suit the overall theme of the rest of the board. I decided to use one of the very first designs that I came up with but changed it and made it a little bit neater but not too much as to affect the theme.

I then tried messing around with the position and opacity etc of the card.

Finally I go this design, the darker border and text made it stand out more whilst the icon is placed in the background with 50% opacity. I felt it was simple yet still followed the same theme.

My final backing designs for my cards. I now need to create a front for them that follows the exact same style and colours.

I started out with a basic border, I wanted it to reflect the current theme of the uneven edges and lots of curves but also I didn't want it to be too curvy. The idea is that the border will reflect the colours on the back to easily distinguish which category they belong too.

I wanted to put an image in the top of the card with any text telling you about what the card would do underneath. I wanted a clear distinction between the top and bottom and tried different borders. I tried using the brush to create the border but found it too curvy and not neat enough to contain information. The second design I used all straight lines but again, I felt that it didn't match the theme that I was going for. I tried a simple line as well but that didn't work as well. I finally opted for a bit of the first and second design together.

After finalizing the borders that I wanted, I felt that a title would also be needed to I simply moved around the boxes to create a clear area for the title.

I then added in all the information including the images for the characters card. The rest would follow the exact same pattern along with the other cards such as the equipment and weapon cards.
